An API to retrieve and read NFL Game Center JSON data. It can work with real-time data, which can be used for fantasy football.

nflgame is a Python API for parsing NFL Game Center JSON data, covering play-by-play, player stats, and live game state going back to 2009. It's for people building fantasy football tools or NFL stat scripts in Python, not for anyone who needs this to keep working going forward.

Ships with years of historical gamecenter JSON bundled directly in the repo, so you get a working dataset without hitting any API on day one. The player/game/play object model is a reasonable abstraction over genuinely messy upstream JSON, and the live-game polling support made it usable for in-game fantasy tracking back when NFL's endpoints were stable.

Flagged unmaintained by the author with a pointer to a fork, and the fork itself is years stale too, so there's no real path to a working version if NFL changes its JSON format or takes the Game Center endpoint away. It scrapes an undocumented, unofficial data source that can disappear or break with zero notice. Python 2-era code and dependencies, bundling gigabytes of gzipped JSON in git is a bad fit for a pip install, and there's no test suite to tell you what still works against current data.
