Laravel-Backpack/CRUD
Build custom admin panels. Fast!
A Laravel package that generates CRUD admin panels directly from Eloquent models — list, create, update, delete, and reorder operations out of the box. It's for Laravel developers who need an internal admin backend fast and don't want to hand-build CRUD screens for every model.
The free tier isn't a stripped-down teaser: 24 column types, 29 field types, 1-1/1-n/n-n relationships, translatable models, and a revisions/audit log all ship in the MIT-licensed core. Customizing behavior is just creating a function or blade view with the conventional name, so overriding one operation doesn't require subclassing the whole controller. The project ships patch releases weekly and has CI (Scrutinizer, StyleCI, test coverage badges) plus install guides going back to Laravel 5.2, so it's clearly been through real production use over many years.
This is open-core, and the README spends as much space pitching the paid PRO add-on (10 filters, 28 more fields, select2 variants) as it does documenting the free package — read past the marketing to find what you actually get for free. The override mechanism depends on naming conventions rather than explicit interfaces, which is fast once memorized but gives you no compiler or IDE help finding the hook you need. It's a server-rendered Blade admin, not API-first, so it's the wrong pick if you want a headless admin or an SPA frontend. Version history (3.x through 7.x, each with its own install doc and Laravel version ceiling) suggests upgrades carry real breaking changes often enough that they built a dedicated `upgrade` console command just to manage it.
