Xplane Demo for JSF C++ Standard
A teaching repo pairing an X-Plane flight-data MFD demo with side-by-side C++ implementations of the same calculators (wind, turn, VNAV, density altitude) written to and in violation of the JSF AV C++ coding standard. It's for developers who want a concrete before/after example of what safety-critical C++ style rules actually buy you, not a flight-sim tool in its own right.
The compliant/non-compliant split is the actual pedagogical hook — same math, same interface, so you can diff the two implementations line by line instead of reading the standard in the abstract. Violations are explicitly tagged (REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT) and mapped to specific AV Rule numbers (208, 119, 206), which makes it usable as a reference when arguing style-guide decisions on a real team. Each calculator is also a standalone CLI binary, so you can sanity-check the flight math independently of the MFD/X-Plane integration.
No tests beyond a single test_calculators.sh, and no CI shown, so 'compliant' correctness is asserted by the code style, not verified by the math — there's no proof the two variants stay numerically identical over time. It's tightly coupled to X-Plane's Web API for the live MFD demo, so the interesting part (JSF compliance comparison) is buried behind a flight sim most people evaluating C++ style rules won't have running. Only three rules are actually demonstrated (exceptions, recursion, dynamic allocation) out of the dozens in the real JSF standard, so it's a taste, not a reference implementation — don't expect this to double as a JSF compliance checklist.
