// the take

A large grab-bag of C libraries for STM32F4 and STM32F7 microcontrollers, built on top of ST's HAL drivers — covers things like displays, sensors, FatFs, LwIP, USB, and RTOS integration. Aimed at STM32 hobbyists and embedded engineers who want ready-made peripheral drivers instead of writing HAL glue code from scratch.

Wide peripheral coverage in one place (SPI/I2C sensors, TFT/LCD displays, SD card + FatFs, Ethernet/LwIP, USB) so you're not hunting across a dozen repos for basic building blocks. Each library generally ships with a matching example project, which is more than most one-off STM32 driver repos bother with. Consistent naming and structure across libraries since one author wrote nearly all of them, rather than a patchwork of contributed styles.

Last commit is from mid-2022 and STM32F4/F7 HAL has moved on since then (newer CubeMX-generated HAL versions, STM32F7 cache/MPU quirks) — expect to patch things to build against current HAL. No CI, no automated tests of any kind, so correctness relies entirely on the author having tried each example on real hardware once. It vendors a full copy of CMSIS and ARM's DSP_Lib source tree rather than pulling them as a submodule or package, so you inherit stale ARM code and a license file sitting in a C project with no clear statement of how it interacts with the rest of the repo's licensing. No STM32F2/L4/H7 support despite overlapping peripherals, and since it's effectively unmaintained now, any bug you hit is yours to fix.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
