Build and host decentralized blogs and websites on your Mac

Planet is a macOS SwiftUI app for writing a static site or blog, building it, and publishing it to IPFS under an IPNS key that can be set as an ENS contenthash. It also reads RSS, Atom, and JSON Feed, and can follow ENS-hosted sites. It's aimed at people already working in the ENS and IPFS ecosystem who want a native client instead of a web tool.

The built-in Kubo node means you don't have to install and run a separate IPFS daemon to publish. The IPNS key can be set as an EIP-1577 contenthash, so the site is reachable by a .eth name without any central host. Following works in both directions: it pins the content of sites you follow so they stay readable offline, and it reads plain RSS feeds, so a site doesn't need to be on ENS to be followed. The app is sandboxed and has no analytics, and the privacy section says concretely what that covers.

The README says the app is early-stage, with many changes still landing, and tells you to back up your IPNS key. Losing that key means losing the site's identity, so this is a real concern, not boilerplate. The Kubo binaries live in Git LFS, and a clone without git-lfs leaves 133-byte pointer files where the binaries should be. Those are easy to miss on a first build. The app is macOS-only, and the Apple Intelligence path needs a macOS 26 SDK to compile. The README also doesn't say what updating the contenthash costs in gas, which matters for anyone publishing regularly.
