SharGIT-prog/Dynamic-Form-Builder

C · updated Dec 2025

Using trees and linked list, created a dynamic form builder to add components, nest components, validation, serialisation, cloning components and preview of components.

A coursework-style project that builds a dynamic form builder (add/nest components, validation, clone, serialize, preview) on top of hand-rolled trees, linked lists, and a trie, written in C with a thin Node/HTML front end bolted on. This is for someone studying data structures who wants to see a tree/trie used for something other than a textbook exercise, not for anyone looking for a form builder to actually use.

The code is split by concern — form.c, list.c, trie.c, validate.c, form_clone.c, form_preview.c — rather than dumped into one main.c, which is more than most student C projects bother with. Implementing deep cloning and serialization of a nested component tree in plain C is a real exercise in pointer management, not just a toy linked-list demo. Using a trie suggests actual thought went into field/component name lookup rather than linear scans everywhere.

A compiled binary (a.exe) is committed straight to the repo, there's no Makefile/CMakeLists, and no README explaining how to build or run either the C side or the Node server.js/ui.html side — it's not clear if those two halves even talk to each other or are two disconnected demos. The repo also carries a Draft Project Report.docx and a presentation .pptx, which marks this as an assignment submission rather than a maintained project, and there's zero indication of memory-safety tooling (valgrind/ASan) despite doing manual tree and linked-list management in C. No tests, no license, no usage example.
