// the take
A NextUI v2 (now HeroUI) dashboard starter built on Next.js App Router, with a home page, charts, and an accounts/table page. It's for someone who wants a visual starting point for an admin panel UI and plans to wire up their own data and auth.
Component structure is cleanly split by feature (accounts, charts, navbar, sidebar, table) rather than dumped in one folder, which makes it easy to lift just the pieces you want. Dark mode and full responsiveness are actually implemented, not just claimed. One-click Vercel deploy and a kept-around v1 branch/demo give you something to compare against before committing.
Last pushed August 2024, and NextUI v2 has since been rebranded/forked to HeroUI with the old org seeing reduced updates, so you're starting on a dependency that's already past its prime. Only two real routes exist (home, accounts) despite the dashboard template framing — login/register pages and an auth.action.ts exist but there's no backend or session handling behind them, it's UI shell only. No tests of any kind, so any refactor of the table/chart components is unverified by hand. Table and chart data are hardcoded mock objects, so hooking up real API data means rewriting most of components/table and components/charts rather than just swapping a data source.
