YiiGuxing/TranslationPlugin
Translation plugin for IntelliJ-based IDEs/Android Studio.
A JetBrains plugin that adds inline translation, text-to-speech, and a vocabulary book to every IDE in the JetBrains lineup (IntelliJ, PyCharm, Rider, Android Studio, etc.), backed by seven different translation engines including OpenAI and DeepL. It's for developers working in a non-English-speaking context who want docs, strings, and comments translated without leaving the editor.
Each translation engine (Google, Microsoft, DeepL, OpenAI, Youdao, Baidu, Alibaba) is isolated in its own package behind a common Translator/LanguageAdapter interface, so adding or swapping engines doesn't touch the rest of the plugin. It also goes beyond plain text translation into IDE-specific integration points — quick documentation popups, inline doc rendering, terminal output — which is the kind of plumbing that's tedious to get right across JetBrains' PSI and documentation APIs. Eleven years of continuous maintenance and broad IDE compatibility (18+ product variants) is a real signal of sustained engineering investment, not a weekend project.
It depends on free/scraped endpoints for Google and Microsoft translate (no official API key), which is the kind of integration that silently breaks when the upstream page changes — the FAQ already acknowledges recurring network/garbled-text issues. Credential storage is flaky enough that the README has a dedicated workaround for macOS/Linux keychain failures, which suggests users will hit friction saving API keys. It's effectively a single-maintainer project (one name on the donations page) for a plugin embedded deep in people's daily IDE workflow — a real bus-factor risk if you depend on it. And it's a terminal tool, not a library: there's nothing here to build on if you need translation logic outside a JetBrains IDE.
