Native iOS agent console for herdr — watch and drive the coding agents on your machines over SSH, with a real libghostty terminal, QR pairing, and push notifications when an agent needs you

Heeler is a native iOS app that lets you monitor and control coding agents (like Claude Code or similar CLI agents) running on remote machines over SSH, built specifically as a companion to the herdr agent runtime. It's for developers who kick off long-running agent sessions on a desktop/server and want to check status, read terminal output, and respond to prompts from their phone without carrying a laptop around.

It renders a real terminal via libghostty rather than faking it with a text view, so scrollback, TUI apps, and touch scrolling actually work instead of just showing a log tail. The SSH transport story is unusually well thought through: stream-local forwarding onto a Unix socket, jump-host support with keys verified at both hops, and QR pairing that pins the host key fingerprint instead of trusting on first use blindly. Push notifications and Live Activities are end-to-end encrypted so the relay server can't read agent status, which is the right call for something watching your codebase's terminal output.

It only works with herdr specifically, not with coding agents in general, so the GitHub topics list is broader than what the app actually supports. There's no server component of their own to audit — it depends entirely on a plugin (herdr.pair) and a Node >= 20 runtime on the target machine, so bugs or compatibility breaks in herdr become Heeler's problem too. It's explicitly described as 'built for personal use first' with 'rough edges and fast iteration,' which is an honest admission but also means don't expect API stability yet. iOS-only with no mentioned Android equivalent, and distribution outside TestFlight depends on App Store regional availability the maintainer doesn't fully control.
