📟 CLI to create new Node.js CLI applications in minutes not hours.
A scaffolding CLI that asks you a handful of questions (name, command, description, author info) and spits out a minimal Node.js CLI boilerplate with argument parsing and a help/welcome message wired up. It's aimed at beginners who want to go from zero to a runnable `npx`-installable CLI without hand-writing package.json and the usual bin wiring.
The scope is genuinely narrow and the code reflects it — ask.js, generate.js, init.js are each small and single-purpose, not buried under abstraction layers. It remembers your last-used author name/email/URL across runs, which is a small but real UX win for anyone scaffolding more than one CLI. The generated template itself is plain JS with no framework lock-in, so you're not inheriting someone else's opinionated dependency tree.
There's no test directory anywhere in the tree, which is a bit much to swallow from a tool whose entire job is generating files correctly — a silent bug in generate.js would ship straight into every scaffolded project. Last push was August 2024 with no signs of recent maintenance, and the generated output has no TypeScript option and no built-in test runner, so the 'minutes not hours' pitch mostly just defers that setup work rather than eliminating it. The README is also heavily wrapped around promoting the author's paid course (NodeCLI.com, utm-tagged links throughout), which makes it read more like a lead magnet than a tool with its own maintenance incentive.
