// the take
Icônes is a client-side icon search engine that indexes every icon set in the Iconify collection (100+ sets, hundreds of thousands of icons) and lets you search, preview, and grab SVG/usage code instantly. It's for frontend devs who are tired of digging through individual icon library docs and just want to find an icon and copy a Vue/React/SVG snippet.
Search is genuinely instant because it's done entirely client-side against pre-fetched icon metadata, not a network round-trip per keystroke. The 'Bag' feature is a real differentiator over typical icon pickers — you can collect icons across different sets and pack them into a single custom icon font instead of downloading one SVG at a time. It's built as a thin, well-organized layer on top of Iconify's unified data format, so it gets broad icon-set coverage for free rather than maintaining its own icon database.
No test files or test runner config anywhere in the tree — correctness of search/pack logic depends entirely on manual review, which is a real risk for a project with this much community contribution traffic. It's a pure consumer of Iconify's dataset, so any gap, naming inconsistency, or stale icon in Iconify shows up here unfixable from this repo. Shipping 'instant' search across 100+ icon sets means a non-trivial metadata payload has to be fetched up front, and the repo has no visible strategy (code-splitting, lazy per-collection loading) documented for keeping that initial load reasonable on slow connections.
