A full stack video conferencing web application.

A MERN-stack clone of Zoom — Express/Socket.io backend for call signaling and a React frontend with a video meeting room, auth, and meeting history. This is the output of a coding tutorial (apna-college runs YouTube courses), not a production video app, and it's useful mainly as a reference for wiring up WebRTC-style signaling with Socket.io in a full-stack JS project.

Clean separation between signaling (socketManager.js) and REST (user.controller.js, routes) on the backend, which makes it easy to trace how a call gets set up. Frontend uses a Context-based AuthContext plus a withAuth HOC, so auth gating is centralized instead of copy-pasted into every page. Mongoose models for meeting and user keep the schema simple enough to actually read in five minutes.

README is a single sentence — no setup steps, no env vars, no explanation of the signaling flow or TURN/STUN config, so you're reverse-engineering the whole thing from source. 154 forks against 222 stars is the classic tutorial-clone ratio: lots of students following along, basically no real-world usage or issues being triaged. No tests beyond the default create-react-app boilerplate (App.test.js), no CI, no Docker, and no license file in the tree. Last push mid-2024 with no indication of production hardening — don't expect TURN server fallback, reconnection handling, or scaling beyond a handful of concurrent calls.
