GitHub Action that sends a Telegram message.
A Dockerfile-based GitHub Action that wraps the Telegram Bot API so a workflow can post text, media, or location messages to a chat on CI events. Useful for teams that already live in Telegram and want build/deploy notifications without writing their own curl step.
Covers a wide surface of Telegram message types (photo, document, sticker, audio, voice, video, location, venue) and lets you fan out to multiple chat IDs in one call via a comma-separated list. Built-in socks5/http/https proxy support is a real feature for teams in networks where Telegram is blocked outright. Template variables for message/message_file give you structured substitution instead of forcing everyone to hand-roll GitHub context interpolation in YAML strings.
It's a Docker container action, so every run pays image pull/boot cost versus a composite or JS action — notable if this fires on every push. The README admits markdown formatting is fragile: unbalanced `*`, backtick, or `[` characters in a commit message make Telegram reject the whole message, and the fix is 'just use html or plain text,' which is a footgun left for the user to discover in production. There are no action outputs (e.g. the sent message ID) for downstream steps to chain off of. Chat ID discovery is still a manual `curl getUpdates` dance with no helper script or CLI bundled, which is a rough first-run experience for a project this mature.
