A Go CLI for bulk-downloading map tiles from providers like Google, Baidu, Gaode, Tianditu, OSM, and Mapbox, with support for both raster and vector tiles. It's aimed at people building offline map apps in China who need tiles from domestic providers that mainstream tools like TileMill or gdal2tiles don't target.
Config-driven (conf.toml) URL templates mean adding a new tile source is a one-line change, not a code change. It supports both flat-file and MBTiles output, and does polygon-based clipping so you can restrict downloads to an actual boundary (geojson/china.geojson, nanjing.geojson) instead of a bounding box. It specifically handles Tianditu's 429 rate-limit behavior, which is the kind of provider-specific annoyance that usually takes a few failed runs to discover yourself.
Everything ships as five top-level .go files (main.go, map.go, task.go, tile.go, utils.go) with no visible tests, so you're trusting a fairly opaque codebase for concurrent network I/O and file writes. Documentation is almost entirely a list of URL templates for each provider rather than actual usage or config docs, and it assumes you already know the GCJ-02/offset quirks of Chinese map providers (the README casually mentions 'Mars coordinate' correction without explaining it). No mention of respecting provider ToS or rate limits beyond Tianditu, so scraping Google/Baidu/Gaode tiles at scale is on you to not get IP-banned. Last commit was mid-2024, so it's not actively maintained if a provider changes their tile URL scheme.
