Automated database platform for PostgreSQL® - Your own DBaaS.
Autobase automates deploying and operating highly-available PostgreSQL clusters (Patroni + etcd/consul + HAProxy/keepalived) via Ansible, a console UI, or GitOps, positioning itself as a self-hosted alternative to managed Postgres DBaaS. It's for teams who want RDS-style automation (failover, backups, upgrades) without handing infra to a cloud vendor.
The HA stack is the boring, proven one (Patroni for leader election, etcd/consul for consensus, HAProxy/keepalived for routing) rather than something homegrown. There's real CI signal of maturity: daily scheduled Molecule runs across 12 OS targets (Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL-family) verifying actual cluster deployment, not just linting. Three consumption paths — Ansible collection, console UI, GitOps — mean you're not locked into one workflow, and the Ansible layer works even if you never touch the UI.
The free Community Edition console is explicitly stripped down; 'extended cluster management features and support' are gated behind the commercial Enterprise Edition, so the OSS UI experience isn't the full product. This is VM/bare-metal automation via Ansible — there's no Kubernetes operator, so it doesn't fit teams already running Postgres on k8s. The README is mostly badges and a star-history chart; you have to leave the repo entirely (external docs site) to understand the actual architecture or config surface. Repo is tagged TypeScript but the operational logic that actually matters (failover, backup, upgrade behavior) lives in Ansible roles/Python, so the TS console is a thin layer over untyped playbook logic you can't easily unit test.
