// the take
A Docker Swarm stack (docker-compose + a pile of Dockerfiles) that wires up Prometheus, Alertmanager, cAdvisor, Node Exporter, Netdata, Grafana and Rocket.Chat into one monitoring/alerting pipeline you deploy with a single `docker stack deploy`. It's a companion project to a Brazilian DevOps course (LINUXtips/badtuxx), aimed at people learning the container-monitoring stack rather than teams looking for production tooling.
One command (`docker stack deploy -c docker-compose.yml giropops`) stands up the full chain — metrics scraping, alerting, and chat notification — which is a decent way to see how these pieces actually fit together end to end. Routing Alertmanager/Grafana alerts into Rocket.Chat by reusing its Slack-compatible webhook format means zero custom glue code is needed. Combining cAdvisor, Node Exporter and Netdata gives both container-level and host-level metrics out of the box instead of just one view.
Last pushed March 2023 with no activity since, and it leans on custom 'linuxtips/*_alpine' rebuilds of Alertmanager, Prometheus and Node Exporter instead of upstream images, so you're trusting a third party's build pipeline and a version lineage that may already be stale or unpatched. Mongo is pinned to 3.2, which is ancient and unsupported — a real security liability if anyone actually deploys this beyond a demo. Grafana's documented default login is admin/giropops, hardcoded in the README with no mention of rotating it. There's no TLS, no persistence/backup story, and no resource limits for a swarm stack that's otherwise presented as something to leave running — it's a tutorial scaffold, not something to put in front of real traffic.
