Third iteration of my personal website built with Jekyll
This is Brittany Chiang's personal portfolio site, built with Jekyll and a Gulp build pipeline — the third iteration, widely known as 'v3' and forked thousands of times as a portfolio template. It's for developers who want a clean, single-page developer portfolio and don't mind ripping out someone else's content first.
The SCSS is split into sensible partials (_intro, _experience, _featured-projects, _skills) so you can find and override one section without touching the rest. It ships a working dark/light theme switch and a real asset pipeline (Gulp tasks for sass, scripts, images, browsersync) instead of just a bare index.html. The layout and interaction patterns (sticky nav, scroll-reveal sections, hover states on project cards) are a genuinely solid reference for building this kind of single-page site from scratch.
Everything is hardcoded to one person's bio, job history, and project screenshots in _data/*.yml and the img/featured tree — forking it means a non-trivial find-and-replace exercise, not a config change. The toolchain is dated: Jekyll + Gulp + bundler + a .nvmrc pinned to an old Node, plus legacy font formats (.eot, bundled .svg icon fonts) that modern static site generators don't bother with anymore. There's no license file, just a README request to link back if you copy it, which is a weak and unenforceable terms-of-use for a repo this heavily forked. No CI, no tests, and no activity since January 2024, so any build-tool rot (Node/Gulp version drift) is on you to fix.
