🔨 An adaptive frontend for smart contract interaction
Blacksmith auto-generates a web UI for calling functions on smart contracts, aimed at Foundry users who want to poke at a locally deployed or mainnet-forked contract without writing a frontend by hand. It pairs with anvil/forge and pulls ABIs via Etherscan/Sourcify verification.
Solid test coverage — nearly every component and hook ships with a matching .test.tsx, which is rare for a project this size. Uses a current web3 stack (wagmi, viem) rather than ethers.js, so the wallet/RPC layer isn't already legacy. Supports importing arbitrary verified contracts by address and forking mainnet, so you can point it at real deployed state like DAI instead of only toy local contracts.
No commits since December 2023 — with wagmi, viem, and Foundry all having shipped breaking changes since, there's a real chance this doesn't build or connect cleanly today. Contract import depends on Etherscan/Sourcify verification succeeding, which the README itself flags as flaky (dismissal bugs, failed verifier calls) rather than a solved problem. Single CI workflow file with no visible passing badge, so there's no signal the test suite is actually green on the current codebase. Scope is narrow — function calls and balance display only, nothing for events, multicall, or debugging reverts, so it's a toy-project tool rather than something to reach for on a real contract.
