React Native Godot - Embed Godot Engine in React Native apps
A React Native library that embeds the Godot Engine into iOS and Android apps via LibGodot, exposing the full Godot API (nodes, properties, methods, signals) to TypeScript/JavaScript. It's for teams that want to drop 2D/3D interactive content or minigames into an existing RN app screen rather than write a separate native Godot host.
It's not a toy binding — Born runs it in production across millions of users, and the API surface is genuinely complete (instantiate objects, call methods, connect to signals, pass JS callables into Godot) rather than a thin subset. The threading model is deliberate: Godot runs on its own thread separate from both the native UI thread and the RN JS thread, with pause/resume and full restart-with-different-project support without tearing down the app. It also handles multiple Godot windows (main window plus subwindows) embedded either on one screen or split across separate RN screens, which is a real windowing problem most engine-embedding wrappers don't bother solving.
Installation isn't a plain npm install — the actual LibGodot binaries live outside npm and require a separate download-prebuilt step, and building a custom LibGodot means cloning a specific fork/branch (migeran/libgodot on libgodot_migeran_45) and running platform build scripts. The threading design has a documented hole: Godot object references obtained on the main JS thread versus in a worklet aren't interchangeable, and the README's fix for that is 'contact Migeran commercially,' meaning a core cross-thread ergonomics gap is a paid-support item, not a roadmap item. Native debugging requires manual symbol directory setup and symlinking the Godot source tree into node_modules, which won't survive a reinstall and isn't automated. There's no visible test coverage beyond RN's default boilerplate App.test.tsx, so for a project bridging a C++ engine across two native platforms there's little in-repo evidence of regression testing.
