[WIP] Resources for AI engineers. Also contains supporting materials for the book AI Engineering (Chip Huyen, 2025)
Companion repo to Chip Huyen's 2025 O'Reilly book on building applications with foundation models. It's a reading aid — chapter summaries, a curated resource list, prompt examples, and case studies — not a code library. Aimed at engineers who bought the book and want structured supplemental material.
The resources.md and case-studies.md files are where the actual value lives — Huyen has genuine production experience at Snorkel and Netflix, and the case studies reflect that rather than being toy examples. The book itself (and by extension this repo) covers evaluation rigorously, which most AI content skips. Being model-agnostic and tool-agnostic means it won't be stale in six months when the current hot framework is abandoned. The translation list (14 languages as of now) signals real reach and community validation.
Almost no runnable code — the entire scripts/ directory is one Jupyter notebook that generates a conversation heatmap, which is a party trick. If you're here expecting a hands-on repo to clone and experiment with, you'll be disappointed. The repo is marked [WIP] and the README promises 'more resources in the next few weeks,' which appears to have been written and then mostly not followed through on. There's also no issue tracker engagement or contribution guide, so the community signal you'd expect from 16k stars is entirely absent.
