:battery: Starter project for an ES6 RESTful Express API.
A minimal Express boilerplate that wires up ES6 syntax via Babel, CORS, body-parser, and a resource-router-middleware pattern for defining REST endpoints, with an optional path to expose Mongoose models directly as REST resources. It's for someone who wants a small starting skeleton rather than a batteries-included framework.
The codebase is tiny — src/api, src/models, src/middleware — so you can read the entire request path in a few minutes instead of reverse-engineering a framework's conventions. Docker support is included and actually documented with real build/run commands, not just a stub Dockerfile. The resource-router-middleware pattern keeps CRUD route definitions declarative instead of hand-writing repetitive Express route handlers.
Babel-transpiled ES6 is pointless in 2026 — Node has supported this syntax natively for years, so the build step is pure overhead with no benefit. resource-router-middleware, the dependency the whole routing approach is built on, has had essentially no activity or adoption outside this project, so you're adopting an unmaintained single-purpose package as a core piece of your API. There's no test directory or CI config anywhere in the tree, so there's no evidence the boilerplate is actually exercised beyond manual runs. It also has zero authentication, validation, or structured error handling — the stuff you actually need to ship a real REST API — so this saves you almost no work beyond routing wiring.
