A curated list of awesome PostgreSQL software, libraries, tools and resources, inspired by awesome-mysql
This is the classic awesome-list format applied to Postgres: a single README with dozens of categories (HA, backups, GUIs, extensions, monitoring, work queues, etc.), each a flat list of one-line linked entries. It's useful as a bookmarking page for anyone building out a Postgres stack and wanting to see what options exist in a given category, not as something you read for technical content.
The category breakdown is genuinely well organized — if you need a connection pooler, backup tool, or schema-diff CLI, you can jump straight to that section instead of googling around. It's actively maintained (12k+ stars, pushes as recently as a few weeks ago) and PRs clearly keep landing, so newer niche tools (pgfence, pg-schema-diff, HypoPG, river) sit next to the old standbys like pgBackRest and Patroni. Coverage is wide enough that it works as a reasonable substitute for 'what's out there' searches across HA, extensions, and language bindings.
There's no actual curation beyond inclusion — every entry gets the same one-line description with zero opinion on which tool is actually good, maintained, or worth your time versus which is abandoned. wal-e is explicitly labeled 'obsolete' but still sits in the list next to its replacement, and nothing else gets that honesty. A meaningful chunk of entries are commercial SaaS products with marketing copy pasted straight from their landing pages, which makes the list feel more like an ad board than a curated reference the deeper you scroll. There's also no indication of how PRs get vetted — given the volume of very-low-star indie tools mixed in with battle-tested infrastructure, the bar for inclusion looks closer to 'anyone can add their project' than genuine quality filtering.
