This is a collection of tutorials for learning how to use Docker with various tools. Contributions welcome.
A grab-bag of Docker tutorials from Docker Inc. and the community, covering beginner containers, Swarm mode, Java/Node debugging in containers, and Windows containers. It's archived and explicitly says new content should go to a different repo (play-with-docker), so this is a historical snapshot, not a living resource.
The beginner walkthrough (Flask app, static site, voting app) is still a clean, minimal intro to building and running a container from scratch. The Java debugging labs show full working setups with Eclipse/IntelliJ/NetBeans remote debug configs against a containerized Tomcat + MySQL app, which is more concrete than most 'how to Dockerize X' posts. The 12-factor app section maps each factor directly to Docker mechanics instead of just repeating the manifesto.
Explicitly unmaintained since 2019 per the README, and the last real push was 2023 with no commits since — Swarm-mode content is dead weight given Compose/Kubernetes dominance now. Dependencies are frozen in time: MySQL connector 5.1.36, old Bootstrap, jQuery 1.8.3, and JSP/servlet-era Java patterns that don't reflect how anyone builds Java apps today. No CI validating that any of these Dockerfiles or compose files still build against current base images, so a chunk of these labs are probably silently broken. Directory sprawl (hundreds of screenshot PNGs per IDE) makes it painful to find the actual instructional content.
