Porting OPC UA server on STM32F4 and LAN8720 hardware platforms and FreeRTOS software operating system
A fork of the ALIENTEK Explorer STM32F407 FreeRTOS demo that adds a LAN8720 Ethernet driver and an lwIP 1.4.1 stack under LWIP/. The description says it ports an OPC UA server, but the README is the vendor's memory-management lab text and the visible (truncated) tree has no OPC UA code, so that claim can't be checked from what was provided. It is most useful to someone who needs a working Keil project for this board and PHY pairing.
- The pieces needed to bring up Ethernet on an RTOS are all present in one Keil uVision project: FreeRTOS, lwIP with an arch port layer under LWIP/arch, a LAN8720 driver in HARDWARE/ETHERNET, and ST's StdPeriph ETH driver (stm32f4x7_eth.c).
- lwip_comm and lwipopts.h separate the lwIP configuration from the stack sources, so the tuning knobs live in one place rather than inside the vendored core.
- The README doesn't describe this project. It is the ALIENTEK memory-management experiment text, with 'Precautions: No.' and a pointer to a PDF manual, so nothing says what the OPC UA port does, how to build it, or what hardware it was tested on.
- lwIP 1.4.1 dates from 2012 and the last push was July 2019. Seven years of lwIP and FreeRTOS fixes are missing, and any OPC UA stack built on top of it would inherit that gap.
- The build depends on a Keil uVision project file and vendor boilerplate (CORE, FWLIB, USMART). There is no CMake file, no CI, and no notes on toolchain version, so reproducing a build means reverse-engineering the environment.
- Nine stars and a layout that reads like a course project mean there is little evidence anyone else has run this on hardware, and no sign of the OPC UA work itself in the visible tree.
