A collection of Flutter examples and demos
This is the official collection of Flutter sample code: mostly single-API quickstarts, a few demo galleries and apps, and a set of add-to-app examples for embedding Flutter in existing Android and iOS projects. It is for developers who want to see how the Flutter team expects one specific feature to be wired up. The README says new samples are mostly not being accepted while the team rethinks sample code for the new LLM world, so treat this as a maintained reference, not a growing library.
The add-to-app samples cover ground most Flutter material skips: a full-screen Flutter instance inside an existing Android or iOS app, a prebuilt module, and multiple Flutter instances sharing an engine group to keep memory down. The books sample uses Pigeon for typed calls between Dart and the host app rather than raw channel strings, which is the setup most teams end up building. platform_channels puts MethodChannel, EventChannel, BasicMessageChannel and MessageCodec in one app, so the differences between them are visible side by side. The quickstarts stay narrow, one API each, which is the right call for a reference repo and makes them easy to lift into a real project.
The README says every sample is fully runnable with flutter run, then flags that add-to-app needs extra native setup. Those are the samples that most need checking, and they require Xcode, Gradle and a host app, so the first run takes much longer than that claim suggests. New samples are mostly not accepted, and the README sends Googlers to flutter/demos for new work, so anyone outside Google has no obvious place to add a missing example. Quality varies: date_planner is described as in-progress, and the demo apps are product showcases that the README itself says are not code to copy. Each sample is its own app with its own pubspec, so check the Flutter and package versions and the last change before lifting a pattern from one.
