A FastAPI based low code starter/boilerplate: SQLAlchemy 2.0 (async), Postgres, React-Admin, pytest and cypress

A cookiecutter/cruft template for FastAPI projects, pairing async SQLAlchemy 2.0 and FastAPI Users on the backend with a React-Admin frontend whose TypeScript client is auto-generated from the OpenAPI spec. Aimed at someone who wants a CRUD app with auth and an admin UI stood up in an afternoon, not a from-scratch tutorial.

It supports Cruft, not just Cookiecutter, so you can pull template updates into a project you already generated instead of forking it the moment you run the command once. The OpenAPI Generator step removes a real pain point: the TS client and types are regenerated from the backend schema, so frontend/backend drift doesn't happen silently. FastAPI Users plus async SQLAlchemy 2.0 gives you working registration/auth out of the box rather than another half-finished auth tutorial. It also ships actual working tests (pytest on the backend, Cypress for the frontend) instead of empty test directories.

The example domain is just an Items CRUD, so there's not much to learn from before you gut it and write your own models. Celery/Redis and Traefik were deliberately left out, which is reasonable for simplicity but means any background job or reverse-proxy need is on you to bolt on. The README's own TODO list still has 'migrate to Ruff' unchecked, so you're stuck running Black, autoflake, isort, and flake8 separately instead of one faster tool. Contributor activity outside the author is thin (a handful of people, several docs-only), so plan on reading the code yourself rather than expecting fast upstream fixes.
