General purpose utilities and hash functions for Android and Java (aka java-common)

// the take

A small, dependency-free grab-bag of Java/Android utility classes from greenrobot (the EventBus/ObjectBox people): primitive long collections, multimaps, an object cache, IO helpers, and a Murmur3/FNV hash implementation. Useful if you want a couple of specific fast primitives without pulling in Guava or Commons wholesale.

LongHashMap/LongHashSet avoid boxing Long keys and measurably beat the generic Collections API for that use case. The Murmur3A implementation is a real Checksum, supports incremental/progressive hashing with primitive updates (updateLong, updateInt, etc.), and is genuinely higher quality than Java's built-in hashCode. PipelineOutputStream is a legitimate fix for the well-known slowness/deadlock issues of java.io.PipedOutputStream, built on a circular buffer. Zero dependencies and under 100k, so it's trivial to audit or vendor.

No commits since March 2021 — over five years dormant, so treat it as frozen, not maintained; don't expect fixes for new JDK versions or reported bugs. Scope is narrow and overlapping: it doesn't replace Guava or Commons, it just covers a handful of gaps, so you'll likely still need a fuller utility library alongside it. Nothing here addresses JPMS/module-info for anyone on a modular build. Being effectively abandoned, any future security or correctness issue in the hash or IO code has no one to patch it.
