A showcase app for the Flutter SDK. Wonderous will educate and entertain as you uncover information about some of the most famous structures in the world.
Wonderous is gskinner's showcase app for Flutter, built in partnership with the Flutter team to demonstrate high-end visual effects, transitions, and rendering on mobile and web. It's aimed at Flutter devs who want a real, shipped reference for complex animation work rather than toy widget demos.
- Actually shipped to the App Store, Google Play, and web, so the animation code has to survive real device constraints, not just look good in a GIF
- Covers Impeller on iOS and the newer Flutter Web WASM target (including renderer/mode query params for CanvasKit vs skwasm), which is useful reference material since most sample apps don't bother with either
- MIT licensed with no strings on commercial use, so you can lift animation/transition code directly
- The repo tree is full of committed Android NDK/CMake build output (android/app/.cxx/Debug/... with CMakeCache.txt, .o files, ninja build files) — that's generated build cache that shouldn't be in version control, and it bloats clone size and history for no reason
- README is entirely install/run and app-store links; there's nothing on architecture, state management, or why specific animation techniques were chosen, so you're reading source to understand design decisions
- As a visual showcase, the code optimizes for effects, not for patterns you'd copy into a typical business app — don't expect idiomatic state management or testing conventions here
- No mention of test coverage anywhere in the README, and showcase apps like this are rarely built with testability as a goal
