// the take

A single-file C console app for a hospital to register patients, store them in a flat text file, and browse records through a text menu. It's a classroom exercise in file I/O and menu-driven C, not a hospital management system in any practical sense — there's no doctor management or appointment booking despite the project name, just patient CRUD on a .txt file.

Does what it claims to do at this scope: add and view patients, persist to patients.txt, compile with a single gcc command and no dependencies. The menu loop and file-handling pattern are a reasonable template for anyone learning struct-to-file serialization in C.

No appointment booking or doctor management exist despite being named for them — the README's own future-improvements list admits search, update, and delete aren't implemented yet, so it's closer to a patient-logging toy than the described system. Plaintext file storage with no schema validation, no duplicate-ID checks, and no concurrent-access handling means it corrupts or loses data the moment more than one instance touches patients.txt. There's no input validation mentioned anywhere, which in C menu programs reliably means unchecked scanf calls and buffer overflows on bad input. Zero stars, zero forks, and the author's own tag as a first GitHub project signal this was never meant to be used beyond a coursework submission.
