// the take

A personal solution set for Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP), written in Scheme with one `.scm` file per exercise plus prose write-ups hosted as a separate readthedocs site. It's for people working through SICP on their own who want to compare their answer against someone else's, not a library or tool you'd depend on.

Each exercise gets its own small file plus a matching `test-*.scm` using a vendored unit-test framework, so solutions are actually runnable and checked rather than just prose. Multiple solution variants are kept side by side for exercises where SICP invites debate (iterative vs recursive, using `cons` vs `map`, etc.), which is more honest than picking one 'correct' answer. Coverage of chapters 1 and 2 is dense — nearly every sub-exercise has a file.

No commits since April 2022 and the README is a single line pointing offsite, so if the readthedocs site ever goes down the explanations are gone and only bare code remains. The write-ups are Chinese-only with no English option, which cuts out a chunk of the SICP audience this would otherwise help. The visible tree only shows chp1 and chp2 code — if later chapters (streams, metacircular evaluator, register machines, the parts people actually get stuck on) aren't covered as thoroughly, this is less useful as a full-book companion. As an answer key, it also has the usual risk of being skimmed for solutions instead of worked through, which defeats the point of SICP's exercises.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
