ZXingLite is a Kotlin wrapper around Google's ZXing library for Android, handling barcode/QR scanning via CameraX and code generation. It's aimed at Android devs who want scanning working in a few lines rather than wiring up ZXing's decode plumbing and camera handling themselves.

The decode configuration is genuinely practical — DecodeConfig lets you restrict the scan area to a sub-rectangle with offsets instead of decoding the full camera frame, which matters for real scanning UX (avoiding false positives from barcodes outside the intended region) and for decode performance. CodeUtils gives a one-call API for both generating (createQRCode/createBarCode, with logo overlay support) and parsing codes. It's actively maintained — fully migrated from Java to Kotlin, published to Maven Central with CI via GitHub Actions, not just a dumped side project.

All documentation is Chinese-only, no English README, which is a real barrier despite the library being globally distributed via Maven Central. The 2.x→3.x jump removed core classes (CameraScan, ViewfinderView, CaptureActivity) outright and split them into separately-versioned repos with no migration shim — upgrading means rewriting your integration, not just bumping a version number. compileSdk requirements have climbed with nearly every release (33 → 34 → 35), forcing unrelated project-wide SDK bumps just to pick up a scanning library update. Core functionality now spans three separately maintained repos (ZXingLite, CameraScan, ViewfinderView) that have to be version-matched by hand, which is fragile dependency management for what's supposed to be a simple integration.
