win w/ Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and Cloud Foundry
This is a numbered workshop rather than a library: thirteen labs that build a reservation service, config server, Eureka registry, Zuul and Hystrix edge client, RabbitMQ-backed streams, Zipkin tracing, Spring Cloud Contract tests, and an OAuth2 auth service on Spring Boot 1.x and the Brixton Spring Cloud release train. It suits developers who want one walkthrough of how the Spring Cloud pieces fit together, but it is a historical reference more than something to build on today.
The lab order is the useful part. Each step adds one Spring Cloud concern to the module from the previous step, so you see why config, discovery, and a gateway exist instead of being handed a finished pom. The consumer-driven contract lab is the most transferable piece: the producer's contract generates a MockMvc test and a -stub.jar, and the client tests run against a WireMock server with Eureka turned off, which keeps the cross-service integration tests out of the critical path. Java and Kotlin versions of several modules sit side by side, which makes it easy to compare idioms.
Nothing here builds as written today. The stack is pinned to Spring Boot 1.x and the Brixton release train, and Zuul, Hystrix, Ribbon, and spring-security-oauth2 have since gone into maintenance or been deprecated. The deployment labs target Pivotal Web Services, which has been retired, and the local setup relies on Docker scripts that assume a $DOCKER_IP from an old docker-machine setup. The last push was October 2017, and the README has broken links and formatting artifacts, including a malformed config repository URL. Treat it as a reading guide, and check Spring's current docs before running any of it.
