Keybase Go Library, Client, Service, OS X, iOS, Android, Electron
Keybase's client monorepo: a Go core (crypto, chat, KBFS, the keybase service and CLI) plus React Native apps for iOS/Android and an Electron desktop shell built on that same core. It's for anyone who wants end-to-end encrypted chat and file sharing tied to a PGP/public-key identity system, not a lightweight library to embed elsewhere.
The Go core cleanly separates crypto/identity primitives from the chat and KBFS layers, and the chat package alone has deep, well-tested subsystems (search indexing, attachment handling, ephemeral message purging, offline sync) that most side-project chat apps never bother implementing. Cross-platform reach is real, not aspirational — the same Go service backs native macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android clients. Pre-commit hooks and a documented protocol layer (Avro-defined RPCs) keep client/service communication versioned and consistent across all those platforms.
Despite the README calling it a 'library,' this is a fully bundled application monorepo — crypto code is not separable from the chat/KBFS/UI layers without significant surgery, so don't expect to pull just the crypto pieces into your own project. External PRs don't get CI-built at all for security reasons, which means outside contributors are flying blind until a maintainer manually reviews and re-runs their change. The sheer breadth (Go + React Native + Electron + native macOS + Avro codegen) means the barrier to building from source and understanding the full system is high, and the README itself warns some code paths are unfinished explorations that don't do what they claim.
