Xray Checker: A Prometheus exporter for monitoring Xray proxies

Xray Checker is a Go-based Prometheus exporter that uses the Xray Core engine to actively test whether VLESS/VMess/Trojan/Shadowsocks proxy endpoints are actually working, rather than just pinging a port. It's for people running or reselling proxy/VPN nodes (the Marzban/Remnawave topic tags give away the use case) who want real uptime metrics instead of trusting the panel's own status.

Does real end-to-end checks through Xray Core instead of a shallow TCP/TLS handshake, so a cert expiry or misconfigured inbound actually shows up as down. Supports pulling configs straight from subscription URLs, share links, or JSON files, which matches how these proxy setups are actually distributed. Has an actual test suite across most packages (checker, metrics, subscription, models, web, xray), which is more than most single-maintainer infra tools bother with. Ships both Prometheus pull and Pushgateway push, plus Uptime Kuma-compatible endpoints, so it slots into whatever monitoring stack already exists instead of forcing Prometheus specifically.

The README leads with VPN affiliate/promo links (BlancVPN with a discount code) mixed into the project docs, which is a bit of a red flag for how much of the roadmap is driven by that relationship versus the tool itself. Spinning up Xray Core as a subprocess per check is heavier than a lightweight prober and ties correctness to Xray Core's own version and binary compatibility, which the docs don't say much about pinning. Single maintainer, single company-adjacent project — bus factor risk if you depend on this for real uptime SLAs. The 'no authentication required' public status page is convenient but worth checking carefully before exposing it, since proxy uptime data can leak operational details about which nodes exist.
