ServerBox - server status & toolbox
ServerBox is a Flutter app for monitoring and managing Linux/Unix/Windows servers over SSH — status charts, terminal, SFTP, Docker/process/service management, S.M.A.R.T. It's aimed at people who already SSH into boxes and want a mobile/desktop front end instead of juggling terminal tabs.
The system-metrics parsing is pushed into a separate Rust crate (sbm_parser) with a real fixture suite covering sensors/smartctl/lsblk/df output across Debian, Alpine, OpenWrt, macOS BSD tools and Windows — that's the part that usually breaks in these apps and here it's actually tested against messy real output rather than one happy-path format. The optional Monitor agent is a legitimate second transport, not just a push-notification shim: it lets the app talk HTTP instead of exposing an SSH port, and it backfills chart history from before the app connected. Platform coverage (iOS/Android/macOS/Linux/Windows/watchOS, home-screen widgets) is unusually wide for a single Flutter codebase, backed by a real flutter_rust_bridge FFI layer rather than shelling out and regexing text at the Dart layer.
AGPLv3 plus a mandatory CLA (sign via a PR comment) to let the maintainer ship your contribution in App Store builds is friction for anyone wanting to fork or embed this commercially — read the CLA before contributing non-trivial work. Some of the headline platform features (push, widgets, watch app) don't work over plain SSH; you need to stand up and maintain the separate Monitor agent on every server, which is another attack surface and another thing to keep patched. It's an app, not a library — there's no public API or package to consume if you just wanted the Rust parsing crate or the SSH plumbing standalone. Full dev setup needs Flutter, Rust, and Node together (per the contributor skill docs), which is a heavier bar than a typical Flutter-only contribution.
