Steam Play compatibility tool to run games using native Linux engines

Luxtorpeda is a Steam Play compatibility layer for Linux that swaps Wine/Proton translation for native Linux engines or source ports (e.g. running the original DOS/Windows game data through an open-source reimplementation of its engine). It's for Linux gamers who'd rather run a game natively than emulate the Windows binary, and it ships a small Godot-based launcher/UI on top of a Rust core.

Rust core plus a Godot-based UI (Controls.gd, Choices, Progress scenes) gives it a real interactive frontend instead of a bare CLI wrapper. CI is actually wired up (build.yml, test.yml, dependabot.yml) rather than just present as boilerplate. The concept itself is sound and solves a real problem: native ports are almost always faster and more compatible than Wine for the games that have them.

The repo has moved to Codeberg and the GitHub README is just a one-line redirect — there's no way to assess actual code quality, packaging, or how source-port matching works from what's here, and this GitHub copy will silently rot as the real project moves on. 959 stars but only 27 forks and no visible recent commit activity on this mirror is a signal the community here is inherited, not current. Depending entirely on third-party source-port projects for engine coverage means support is only as good as the least-maintained port in the list, and there's no indication in the tree of how that compatibility matrix is tested or kept in sync.
