Awesome implementations of the Mapbox Vector Tile specification
An index of libraries, servers, clients, and command-line tools that read, write, or render Mapbox Vector Tiles, grouped by role and language. It is for a developer who needs a tool for a specific MVT job, such as a native encoder or a PostGIS tile server, and it does not explain the spec itself.
The sections split by role (parsers and generators, clients, servers, CLI utilities, low-level code), so you can go straight to an encoder or a tile server without scanning the whole list. Language coverage is wide, with entries in JavaScript, C++, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C#, Swift, Dart, PHP, and Haskell, which matters if you want an encoder in your own stack. The mvt-fixtures entry is the most practical item here: a set of valid and invalid test cases you can run any new encoder or decoder against. The warning markers on abandoned projects are a useful signal, even though they are applied unevenly.
No entry says when it was last released, what license it uses, or what language it is written in, so you have to open every link to learn whether it still builds. The maintenance warnings are added by hand and several dead projects have none. The list still leads with mapbox-gl-js, which Mapbox moved to a non-open-source license, and the only place that is noted is the MapLibre entry. Two different tools share the names vt2geojson and tiler, and the only way to tell them apart is the author in the URL. The list ranks nothing and benchmarks almost nothing; its one performance entry is a single external comparison of server options.
