// the take

A side-by-side reference showing the same ~20 small UI patterns (counter, loops, conditionals, props, slots, context, fetch) implemented across roughly 20 frameworks and libraries, from React and Vue down to Mithril, Marko, and Aurelia 1. It's aimed at developers who already know one framework and want to read another by analogy rather than starting from a tutorial.

Breadth is the real selling point — it includes frameworks that almost never get comparison treatment (Mithril, Marko, Aurelia 1/2, Ripple) alongside the usual suspects. Content is data-driven (a frameworks.ts registry plus a content/ tree of per-feature snippets) so adding a framework is a mechanical checklist, not a rewrite. The progression tracker makes gaps visible at a glance instead of silently missing coverage. The explicit 'clarity over optimization' rule keeps snippets readable instead of turning into a micro-optimization showcase.

Every example is toy-sized (counter, color list, one fetch call), so it tells you nothing about how a framework handles routing, real async state, or app-scale organization — the thing people actually agonize over when picking a framework. There's no performance or bundle-size data, so it only answers 'how does the syntax look,' not 'should I use this.' The build pipeline leans on several bespoke pieces (custom Shiki theme/highlighter, an OG-image renderer, a generation Vite plugin), which raises the bar for contributors and is probably why some entries are visibly incomplete (Ember Octane missing render-app, Aurelia 1 missing context). Pinning to Node 26 is aggressive for a docs/reference site and will turn away casual contributors on older toolchains.

We read the README, the directory tree and a key source file in October 2026. Nobody pays to be listed. How we judge →
