📓 Memo Life For You

A CLI note-taking tool that stores memos as plain markdown files with configurable frontmatter templates. Built for developers who want dead-simple notes on disk they can grep, edit in their own editor, and sync with git — not a knowledge-base app.

Notes are just files, so there's no lock-in and nothing stops you from syncing via git or Dropbox on top. It doesn't reinvent fuzzy-finding or grep — selectcmd and grepcmd are pluggable, so you point it at fzf, ag, or whatever you already use. The plugin mechanism is refreshingly low-ceremony: drop an executable in pluginsdir and it becomes a subcommand, no API to learn.

Tags and categories are template fields that are 'always empty' per the docs — there's no real metadata layer, so search is just grep over file contents. The serve command (HTTP server) has no documentation at all in the README — no idea what it exposes or whether it's safe to run on anything but localhost. Test coverage looks thin for a tool that shells out to three different configurable external commands (editor, grep, selector); failure modes when one of those binaries is missing or misbehaves aren't discussed. Still versioned 0.0.4 after years of use, which either means it's frozen-stable or that semver was never really adopted — the changelog isn't in the README either way.
