mhfs/devise-async
Send Devise's emails in background. Supports Resque, Sidekiq, Delayed::Job and QueueClassic.
A thin Devise plugin that hooks its mailer calls into ActiveJob so confirmation, reset-password, and unlock emails get queued instead of sent inline. Useful for anyone running Devise on Rails 5+ who wants those emails off the request thread without hand-rolling the job wrapper themselves.
The whole implementation is two small files (lib/devise/async.rb, lib/devise/async/model.rb) — easy to read in five minutes and audit. It rides on ActiveJob rather than binding to a specific queue backend, so it works with Sidekiq, Resque, or whatever adapter the app already has configured. Enable/disable is a single config flag, which makes it trivial to toggle per-environment (e.g. sync in test, async in production).
Last push was September 2021 — four years stale, no visible maintenance against current Devise or Rails releases, so compatibility with Devise 4.9+/Rails 7+/8 is unverified and you're on your own if something breaks. The gem itself is a wrapper so thin that most teams could replace it with ~10 lines overriding send_devise_notification, meaning you're taking on a dependency (and its update risk) for something that isn't much code to maintain yourself. No answer in the README for job failure/retry behavior — if the queue backend drops a job, there's no fallback or logging story documented. CI badge points to Travis, which shut down free OSS builds years ago, so the advertised build status is almost certainly dead/unverifiable.
