A high frequency, market making cryptocurrency trading platform in node.js
Tribeca is a Node.js/TypeScript market-making bot for crypto exchanges (Coinbase, HitBTC, OKCoin, Bitfinex) with a web UI, REST API, and backtester. It's aimed at developers who want a reference implementation of order-book-level quoting logic, not a plug-and-play trading product.
The gateway abstraction cleanly isolates exchange-specific REST/WebSocket quirks (src/service/gateways) from the core quoting engine, so reading one gateway teaches you the pattern for all of them. The quoting-styles module (depth, mid-market, top-join) behind a style-registry is a genuinely useful pattern for swapping strategies without touching the order-management code. It ships a backtester and a null/in-memory exchange gateway, so you can iterate on strategy logic without hitting a live exchange.
Dead since December 2021 — Node v7.8 and TypeScript 2.2 are the pinned targets, and none of the four exchange APIs are guaranteed to still match what's implemented. The web UI's auth is optional and defaults to NULL (no password) per the README's own admission, which is a bad default for something that can fire real orders. Test coverage is two files (backtest.ts, statistics_tests.ts) for a system that touches money — there's no CI badge or evidence of automated testing against exchange responses. Persistence via a MongoDB instance with credentials in a plaintext env file, and the whole thing assumes you trust a 4-year-unmaintained Docker image with your exchange API keys.
