// the take
An Objective-C library for iOS that preloads and caches whole web pages (or individual resource lists) so they can be shown offline later, intercepting requests through either NSURLCache or NSURLProtocol. Built for apps that embed a WebView and want a chunk of content available offline without architecting a real offline-first data layer. Last touched in 2017.
Offers two distinct interception strategies (overriding NSURLCache vs. registering an NSURLProtocol) and lets you pick per use case, which is more flexible than most ad hoc WebView caching snippets. Host and User-Agent whitelisting scope what actually gets cached instead of vacuuming up every request a WebView fires. Preloading works at two granularities: a full page via WebView URLs, or a specific list of resource requests.
Targets UIWebView-era networking assumptions; WKWebView's separate process and networking stack often don't honor app-level NSURLCache or NSURLProtocol registration without extra plumbing, so this may not intercept anything in a modern WebView setup. Cache eviction is a blunt full-wipe when the configured capacity is exceeded rather than LRU, and expiry is just a per-file timestamp check with no background cleanup. The NSURLCache path reads/writes cache files straight through NSFileManager with no visible locking, so concurrent requests for the same URL can race. Objective-C only, no Swift Package Manager support, and no commits since 2017 — expect to patch it yourself for current Xcode/iOS SDKs.
