Step-by-step walkthrough tooltip for your react native app

A tooltip-based walkthrough/onboarding library for React Native, letting you highlight specific UI elements with step-by-step tours (think product tours or first-run tutorials). Useful for teams that want in-app guided tours without building the masking/positioning logic themselves.

Two overlay implementations (View-based and SVG-based) with automatic fallback if react-native-svg isn't installed, so you're not locked into a hard dependency. The mask path is fully overridable via a function prop, so you can do circular or per-step custom cutouts instead of the default rectangle. Hooks-based API (useCopilot) plus swappable tooltip/step-number components means you can restyle it completely without forking. Event bus (start/stop/stepChange) gives you a clean hook for analytics on tour completion/drop-off.

Last push was December 2024 — nearly two years stale with a single primary maintainer, and no mention of New Architecture/Fabric compatibility, which is a real risk for anyone on a current RN version since layout measurement APIs changed under Fabric. ScrollView support is a manual second-argument-to-start() hack rather than something the library detects automatically. No accessibility story at all in the docs — no VoiceOver/TalkBack considerations for a component whose entire job is guiding user attention. The View overlay is explicitly called out as sluggish on Android, so you're pushed toward the SVG overlay and its extra native dependency just to get acceptable performance.
