An APP that integrates mainstream large language models and image generation models, built with Flutter, with fully open-source code.
AIdea is a Flutter app that puts several mainstream chat models and image generators behind one client, with group chats, character chats and image generation. The client is MIT-licensed and targets Android, iOS, macOS and Windows, but it is a front end for a separate Go server repo (aidea-server) that is not in this tree, so it suits people who want to run that service or fork the UI.
The client is a real multi-platform project rather than a mobile wrapper: android/ and ios/ runtimes sit beside lib/, and a GitHub Actions workflow builds the Windows app with an MSIX script and installer definition alongside. State is split per feature into BLoCs (chat, group chat, rooms, creative island, payment, model), so the chat and image paths do not share one state object. Chat rendering goes beyond plain text, with a custom LaTeX inline and block syntax, a citation widget, a thinking card for reasoning output, and a search-result renderer. The admin screens for channels and models suggest provider and model lists come from the backend rather than being compiled in, which would mean a new model does not need an app release, though this tree does not confirm it.
The app is not useful against anything public without the server. Self-hosting means deploying aidea-server from its own repo, following its deploy doc, or paying for the author's assisted deployment, so 'fully open-source' covers the UI and not the service people actually use. The default branch is v2 and under active development, the last push was 2026-03-04 (about seven months ago), and self-hosters are pointed at v1.x, which leaves two lines to track and no stated support window for v1.x. The README concedes that builds break as the Flutter version moves, and the fix it offers is a screenshot of the author's own environment; the visible tree has no version pin such as .fvmrc. Support runs through a personal WeChat ID and a WeChat group, and most setup guidance is Chinese-language articles, so an English-speaking developer who hits a build error has little to search.
