🎨 Best DeepSeek Harness Design Plugin. The open-source Claude Design alternative. 🖥️ Local-first desktop app. 🖼️ Your coding agent becomes the design engine: prototypes, landing pages, dashboards, slides, images & video — real files, HTML/PDF/PPTX/MP4 export. 🤖 Claude Code / Codex / Cursor / DeepSeek Harness / OpenCode & 20+ CLIs via BYOK.

OpenDesign is a local-first desktop app (TypeScript daemon + agent-runtime adapters) that turns whatever coding-agent CLI you already have installed — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, DeepSeek's dsh, and 20+ others — into a design generator, producing prototypes, decks, dashboards, images, and HTML-to-MP4 video via a bundled HyperFrames renderer. It's aimed at developers who want a self-hostable, model-agnostic substitute for a closed cloud design product rather than pixel-pushing in Figma.

The BYOK proxy has real SSRF hardening — RFC1918/link-local/CGNAT/metadata IPs are blocked by default, with an explicit exact-hostname opt-in for internal gateways, rather than trusting whatever URL a user pastes in. The daemon binds to 127.0.0.1 by default and keeps credential and live-preview routes loopback-only even when LAN exposure is enabled. Agent integration is genuine protocol work, not one shell-out-and-pray wrapper: apps/daemon/src/agent-protocol has separate handling for ACP, Codex's app-server protocol, pi-rpc, and dsh's session/stream/cancel/resume flow. Docker and Sealos deploy paths with Basic Auth over the bridge network show it was built to run somewhere other than a laptop.

No prebuilt Linux binary, despite Linux being the default OS for most people who already have a coding-agent CLI on their PATH — you have to build from source, and the release issue for it is still open. The README and topic list are heavily SEO-stuffed (repeated dsh/deepseek-harness keyword variants, "Claude Design alternative" positioning, UTM-tagged links funneling back to a paid open-design.ai cloud tier), which makes it hard to separate real adoption from discoverability gaming behind the 98k stars. The surface area is enormous — 100+ skills, 151 design systems, 277 plugins, 26 supported agent CLIs — for a single team's daemon to keep working as each of those upstream CLI protocols changes independently. The `od` command also collides with macOS's built-in octal-dump utility, and the README has to carve out explicit workarounds for it, which is the kind of naming conflict that bites new users on day one.
