Embedded Go Database, the fast alternative to SQLite, gorm, etc.
ObjectBox for Go is a CRUD-style embedded database built on top of ObjectBox's closed-source native C engine, generating object-relation code via go:generate/FlatBuffers. It's aimed at IoT/edge and mobile-adjacent Go services that want an alternative to gorm+SQLite without hand-rolling SQL, where the benchmark pitch is lower resource usage on constrained devices.
Code generation produces compile-time-checked, reflection-free struct bindings instead of the runtime reflection gorm relies on, and relations/queries across linked objects are built in rather than bolted on with join boilerplate. Schema migrations are automatic (no migration scripts to write or run), and the same binding model targets Linux/Windows/Android/iOS/macOS and ARM IoT targets from one API.
This isn't actually a Go database — it's a cgo wrapper around a precompiled, closed-source native library (libobjectbox.so/.dylib/objectbox.dll); the Apache-2.0 license covers the Go binding, not the storage engine doing the real work, which matters if you care what's actually open here. Install is a `curl | bash` piping an unpinned script straight into execution, with no checksum or vendoring story shown. The generated .obx.go files have to be committed to version control, which is extra process overhead compared to a pure-Go ORM. Last push was March 2025 (v1.9.0) and the README leans on marketing bullet points and a feedback-form pitch rather than technical depth, with real documentation pushed off to an external docs site.
