A list of open geospatial datasets available on AWS, Earth Engine, Planetary Computer, NASA CMR, and STAC Index

A daily-updated snapshot of geospatial dataset catalogs scraped from AWS Open Data, Google Earth Engine, Microsoft Planetary Computer, NASA CMR, STAC Index, and Copernicus, published as flat TSV/JSON files. It's for anyone building a geospatial data pipeline who wants a single place to discover what's available across these platforms without hitting five different APIs by hand.

The GitHub Actions workflow (update_datasets.yml + auto_update.py) refreshes the files daily, so it doesn't rot like a manually-maintained awesome-list. Output is plain TSV/JSON, so consuming it is a one-liner with pandas.read_csv against the raw GitHub URL — no client library or auth token needed. It aggregates sources that are otherwise scattered (GEE's catalog page, PC's STAC API, NASA CMR-STAC) into one consistent tabular format.

There's no code here beyond the scraper — it's just data files, so there's no query interface, filtering, or schema validation; you're on your own for deduping or normalizing fields across sources. The project is split across half a dozen near-identical sibling repos (aws-open-data, aws-open-data-geo, aws-open-data-stac, Earth-Engine-Catalog, etc.) with unclear boundaries on what lives where, which makes it easy to pull a stale one. No changelog or diffs on the daily updates, so you can't tell what was added or removed between runs without diffing the files yourself. No tests on auto_update.py, so a silent scraping failure (e.g., GEE changing their catalog page structure) could quietly ship an empty or truncated file.
