Source control for agents. Use multiple coding agents, track their changes and query them in one place

Atlas is a Tauri desktop app for macOS and Windows x64 that runs Claude Code, Codex, its own agent, and other ACP-registry agents in one window, recording each session as it goes. Its central feature links every commit back to the agent session, prompts, and tool calls that produced it. It is aimed at developers who run more than one coding agent on the same repo and want to query that history later.

The checkpoint linkage is the part worth studying. Commits are observed rather than intercepted, so a commit made from a plain terminal or with Atlas closed still finds its session. Links are re-pointed through amend and rebase by patch-id reconciliation, and when a squash makes the match ambiguous the link is orphaned instead of guessed. Secrets are redacted before anything is written to sessions.db. Storage is markdown notes, JSONL sessions, and one SQLite file, so the data is still readable without the app. Retrieval runs on-device with local embeddings and HNSW search, and the app works with no account and no network.

Linux is not supported. The README says the Tauri code builds there but is untested, which leaves out a large share of developers who run several agents. The surface area is big for something this early: an editor, a block terminal, a WebKit browser, a git GUI, research search, a spatial board, and a knowledge base all sit around the checkpoint feature, and each one is another thing to keep working on two platforms. Anonymous analytics are on by default, which sits awkwardly with the 'local by default' framing. It is disclosed and can be turned off, but the default should be the other way round for a tool that promises to keep data on the machine. Contributors also have to target the current version branch rather than main, and the README says QA on the long tail of ACP-registry agents is still ongoing, so 'any agent' is a promise still being tested.
