Emulates a barcode scanner for testing cash registers. Why buy a scanner when you have a flipper?
A Flipper Zero app that presents the device to a cash register as a COM-port barcode scanner and sends saved barcode payloads over USB serial. It is aimed at anyone testing Evotor or similar POS hardware who would rather not buy a scanner just to feed test codes through.
- Narrow scope that does what it says. The register sees a USB serial device with a scanner identity, and the app sends the file contents as the scan. Nothing else is bundled in.
- The USB identity and baud rate are documented (VID 1155, PID 22336, 19200 baud, the serial string format). That is what you need to match a register's device config or write a driver rule.
- Test codes are plain text files on the SD card, so a tester can build a library of cases in any editor without recompiling the app.
- The layout follows the Flipper SDK's scene and view split: scenes/ for file select, work and error, views/ for drawing, and a separate script module for the serial send. That keeps the UI flow easy to follow.
- No tests and no CI in the tree. The serial send path is only exercised by hand against a real register, so a regression shows up at the till rather than in a build.
- The .bc format is only documented as 'write the text, rename to .bc'. GS (0x1D) separators have to survive the editor and the SD card, and the advice to use Sublime Text is the only guard. A dropped GS byte looks like a bug in the register.
- The README says nothing about failure: what happens if the register never reads, if the port is busy, or if a file is malformed. Only the 100% end state is described.
- Last push was April 2025. Flipper firmware and the app SDK may have moved since, so confirm it still builds against current firmware before depending on it.
