Pyro is an experienced and powerful Laravel PHP CMS.
PyroCMS is a modular CMS built on Laravel 5, aimed at PHP developers who want a Laravel-native content platform instead of bolting a CMS onto a custom stack. It's aimed at teams already comfortable with Laravel conventions who want addons, themes, and a flexible content-modeling layer rather than hardcoded migrations.
The 'Streams' system (see docs/core-concepts/streams-and-entries.md) gives you schema-flexible content types without writing raw migrations for every field change, which is the actual interesting part of this project. It rides on Laravel's ORM, queue, and service container instead of reinventing them, so you get the surrounding ecosystem for free. Documentation is unusually structured for a CMS of this size — separate getting-started, core-concepts, and addon-development sections rather than a single wall-of-text README.
It's pinned to Laravel 5 with no sign of a migration path to a modern Laravel version in the tree — that's a real liability given how much has changed in Laravel's auth, queue, and Eloquent internals since then. There's no CI configuration anywhere in the repo (no .github/workflows), and the tests directory is just a bare TestCase.php stub, so you have no idea what's actually covered. Security process is a single line telling you to email an address — no disclosure policy, no supported-versions table, nothing indicating how seriously reports get triaged. The fork count (908) relative to stars (3175) suggests it's mostly used as a one-time boilerplate people copy and diverge from rather than a project people upstream fixes back into.
